You must also study the subject/course outside the class determines how well you do in school. Study becomes increasingly important as you move from lower to tertiary institution.

It is believed that low performance of students in examination stems from the lack of good study habits refer to the various practical abilities, which the student deliberately acquires, the various desirable habits, which he has formed, that assist him in the process of obtaining information and knowledge and each of these must be used and improved all the time.

HOW TO STUDY

Ask yourself two questions before you begin study: ''why am i studying this topic"? You cannot study effectively unless you understand what you are supposed to accomplish. Simply memorizing dates , mathematical formulas, or passages in literature do not make you a good student. If you understand a subject/course, remembering facts about it becomes much easier.

Many students sometimes have trouble concerning on their work. There are several study methods that can help keep your mind from wandering. For example you should study the most difficult subjects, first, when you are most mentally alert. You should work or do some push-ups, stretches or other simple exercises to help refresh your mind. Write down relevant points or main ideas of the text of study material, using the right abbreviations and mnemonics. Note talking enhances your understanding and improves study habits.

Some students like to study in pairs so that they can test each other orally in a subject/course. At the end of each study session, test yourself to make sure you understand the major points of the topic. If you are still confused with the topic, study it again at a later session. Do not hesitate to ask your teacher for help with a study problem or for general advise about improving your study habits. Prepare a personal timetable and submit it to your course advisers or class teachers for approval.
